With Wal-Mart, Netflix, and Best Buy [among others] backing Blu-Ray, word has it that Toshiba is dumping HD-DVD and letting Blu-Ray win the format war. NHK from Japan and Reuters are reporting that according to a "source", The probable date for an official announcement is sometime next week. According to the news agencies, the "source" said and we quote "We have entered the final stage of planning to make our exit from the next generation DVD business," end quote. That said, Toshiba is facing hundreds of millions of dollars in losses, which obviously isn't good for the Tokyo based electronics company. Another thing is that the company will continue selling HD-DVD devices in stores for a bit, but won't come out with anything new. Ah well. But now the question is, with Toshiba planning on shutting HD-DVD down, will there be a Blu-Ray player coming out for the Xbox 360?
